- Salary range: $2421.90 to $2767.20 p.f. (HWF1)
- 4 to 6 weeks annual leave with 14%-17.5% loading
- 12.75% employer contribution to superannuation
- Plus Salary Sacrificing options may be available
About your opportunity
Townsville Hospital and Health Service is committed to growing the First Nations health workforce and values the role and contribution of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Worker and Health Practitioner. These roles support the provision of culturally safe and responsive clinical and primary health care interventions to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities.
Health Worker Trainees are supported with full time employment, tailored education plans to suit individual learning needs, suitable rostering to support engagement with program education and wrap around, culturally safe support to continue through the program's various academic milestones.
Requirements:
- To perform this role, it is essential that the person who holds the position be an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person. It is therefore a genuine occupational requirement under section 25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 that applicants are Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islanders.
- Blue Card Checks: Potential applicants are advised that the Commission for Children and Young People and Child Guardian Act 2000 requires Queensland Health to seek a ‘working with children check' from the Commission for Children and Young People and Child Guardian prior to appointment to this position. 5.1.
- Knowledge and understanding of the social and cultural determinants of health for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures.
- Demonstrate cultural knowledge and respect, of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander cultures and community customs and protocols.
